The hotel is situated in a unique up and coming area, Ásbrú. It’s the old naval base that the American Army used while they were based in Iceland. In the vicinity of the hotel you will find Andrews Theatre, Atlantic Studios and the Officers Club, which where buzzing with life when the Army was here. Now the studios are used to film TV shows such as The Voice, Andrews Theatre is used by the local university for conferences and the Officers Club is rented out to groups for business or dining. All 3 buildings were used under the ATP music festival which has been held for the past few years in the area, until 2016. The whole of Ásbrú is situated within the Reykjanes Geopark.
A 5-10 minute drive will take you to the town of Keflavík, where you can go to the supermarket or choose from a number of restaurants. There are some interesting museums to look at, even a cave where you can visit a sleeping troll.
Heading a little further out you can find local attractions such as the Bridge between Continents, Gunnuhver hot spring, the world famous Blue Lagoon, and you can enjoy a drive along the south coast if you want to skip Reykjavík on your travels toward the south of Iceland.
